POSITION – Volunteer Coordinator: Foster Grandparent Program

Purpose of Position

Places foster grandparent volunteers in appropriate sites & provides direct line of communication between foster grandparents, sites and Seniors in Service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

·    Places Foster Grandparent volunteers.

·    Assists director with volunteer personnel matters.

·    Assists with recruiting, training, placement/assignment & training           of volunteers.

·    Assists with annual eligibility and performance reviews of volunteers.

·    Assists with stipend cards.

·    Keeps files current.

·    Makes presentations.

QUALIFICATIONS

·    BA/BS degree or experience in Volunteer Management, Human Services or related field.

·    Skills in working with senior population and children.

·    Skills in working one on one with senior population.

·    Ability to work independently, making decisions in the field.

·    Ability to determine appropriate distribution of information to maintain appropriate confidentiality.

·    Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

·    Strong organizational skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/MENTAL & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Non-smoking workplace.

Frequent local travel (several times per week). 

Up to 3 Saturdays work per year.

Must lift, carry, push or pull up to 20 lbs. of files, equipment, etc. on a regular basis.

EQUIPMENT USED

Computer and standard office equipment

Automobile – Needs flexible transportation available at all times.  Transporter must have appropriate license, good driving record and appropriate insurance.
