HONORS
Susan Boyd Honored with Healthy
Aging Award
During Seniors in Service’s annual
Volunteer Recognition Luncheon, Susan Boyd was presented with the
2009 Healthy Aging Award. The award, sponsored by Tampa General
Hospital, was created to expand awareness of the positive aspects of
aging and inspire other adults to improve their physical, mental and
social fitness. The presentation was made by Tamaka Powe of Tampa
General Hospital.
Susan Boyd was selected as the 2009 award
recipient because she is a model of aging. She retired from IBM ten
years ago and has served as a volunteer in Seniors in Service’s Bill
Payer Program for nine years. She also spends time giving back to
the community through several other organizations, including her
church.
Susan enjoys a healthy diet, exercises
regularly at the gym and takes part in athletic activities. She
gets plenty of mental stimulation by reading extensively and
socializing with friends and neighbors. She has a positive attitude
and greets each new day and new experience with excitement. She
seeks variety in her activities and challenges in her daily life.
